FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Extra virgin olive oil offers natural antioxidants, a healthy dose of monounsaturated fats, heart and cell support, and a flavor that elevates any dish. It provides balanced nutrition, reduces inflammation, and gives the body stable energy without fluctuations.
It is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to combine health, taste and long-term well-being.
Yes. Extra virgin olive oil contains natural polyphenols – compounds that act as antioxidants. They help protect our cells from oxidative stress, reduce inflammation and support heart health.
Polyphenols are also the reason why fresh oil has that slightly bitter and spicy feeling in the throat. This is not a mistake, but a sign that the oil is alive, fresh and rich in beneficial substances.
High-quality extra virgin olive oil contains more polyphenols, vitamin E, and natural antioxidants that protect cells, reduce inflammation, and support heart health. Fresh, low-acid, and properly processed oil delivers more flavor, more benefits, and greater stability.
But we must be careful when choosing. Many olive oils in stores are already oxidized, aged, or blended, which means they lose their polyphenols and therefore their value. It is important to choose EVOO with traceability, laboratory tests, and proven freshness — that's the only way to know you're getting a really high-quality oil.
Yes. Every batch of Toscano IGP certified Bittergreen oil is fully traceable — from the olive grove to the bottle. Each lot is analyzed in an accredited laboratory, where they check acidity, peroxides, UV indices, authenticity, vitamin E, polyphenols and other key indicators of freshness.
The results are then confirmed by the official Toscano IGP sensory panel, which confirms the aroma, taste and absence of defects.
That's why you can always access the full profile of the oil with the QR code on the bottle: origin, producer, pressing date, chemical tests and sensory evaluation.
An unopened bottle of Bittergreen oil stays at its best for about 18–24 months from pressing if stored properly (dark, cool, tightly closed).
Once opened, it is ideal to use the oil within 3–4 months, as the polyphenols and aroma gradually decrease when exposed to air.
If you close the bottle tightly after each use and keep it away from heat, the oil will remain excellent even after several months.
Yes. High-quality fresh oil is stable even at higher temperatures. It is best used in cold dishes, salads, pasta dishes and to finish hot dishes.
Yes. Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil is pressed from healthy, early-harvested olives, usually within 24 hours of harvest, and comes from a single source or a smaller, clearly defined territory. As a result, it has more polyphenols, lower acidity, a clean taste, and higher stability. In addition, premium oil must not have any sensory defects – the taste must be completely clean, fresh, and harmonious.
Regular Extra Virgin Olive Oil is often made from later-harvested or lower-quality olives, can be a blend of oils from different countries and periods, and is often partially oxidized due to age. Such oil contains fewer health-promoting substances, and its taste is milder or almost neutral. It also often has defects that should not be present in real Extra Virgin Olive Oil – such as mold, rancidity, or sour notes.
Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil therefore means more freshness, more health and more confidence.
Yes. Bittergreen oil has EU organic certification and strict traceability of the Toscano IGP.
