Extra Virgin Olive Oil – A Standard, not just a label

From the compact 250 ml bottle to the 5 L metal tin, all Bittergreen oils come from the same Tuscan olive mill, from the same early harvest, and with the same laboratory report.

Bittergreen oils are high-polyphenol extra virgin olive oils from the Grosseto region in Tuscany, an area known worldwide for its outstanding olive-growing tradition and ideal microclimatic conditions. We source them from a single olive mill, a consortium of local growers and our exclusive partner. All oils in this collection share the same quality foundation: a classic Tuscan blend of Frantoio (50%), Leccino (30%), and Moraiolo (20%), early harvest (October–November), cold extraction within 24 hours of harvest, polyphenols >450 mg/kg, and acidity <0.3%.

The high polyphenol content and Tuscan origin are indicators of outstanding nutritional value and natural stability, helping the oil stay fresh for longer while delivering exceptional flavour.

The only difference between the products is the size of the packaging — not the quality. All oils have the same laboratory profile, the same harvest date, and the same level of traceability. We structured the range to cover different needs: from compact bottles for travel and gifts (250 ml) to tins for large households and professional kitchens (5 L).

The bottles (250, 500, 750 ml) are made from dark glass with UV protection — ideal for everyday kitchen use where appearance also matters. Larger sizes (3 L and 5 L) come in metal tins — one of the best packaging options for longer storage, providing complete protection from light while remaining chemically neutral. Simply pour some of the oil into a smaller bottle for everyday use and keep the tin closed in your pantry.

All oils carry two certifications: Toscano PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) and EU Organic certification. Each product also includes a unique batch number for full traceability — on this page, you can check the origin of the olives, the olive mill, harvest date, and laboratory report. The price per litre decreases as the packaging size increases: highest for 250 ml and lowest for the 5 L tin.

Size Guide

To help you choose the right size for your needs:

  • 250 ml → travel, gifts, first taste

  • 500 ml → 1–2 people, 1–2 months’ supply

  • 750 ml → best price per litre among bottles, 2–3 months’ supply

  • 3 L tin → 2–3 person household, 3–6 months’ supply

  • 5 L tin → large households or professional use, 6+ months’ supply

Is the oil the same quality in every size?
Yes. All Bittergreen oils come from the same olive mill and the same early harvest, with the same laboratory parameters (polyphenols >350 mg/kg, acidity <0.3%). The only difference is the packaging size.

Which size offers the best price per litre?
For one-time purchases, the 5 L metal tin offers the best price per litre.

Metal tin or bottle — which should I choose?
The metal tin is better for storing a larger supply: it offers better protection from light, does not break, and is easy to store. The bottle is more convenient for everyday kitchen use and easier to pour from. The ideal combination: a tin in the pantry + a bottle in the kitchen.
